Fuels of Concern are those fuels that are factors in the potential wildfire threat to the home or approach to the home.
Inspectors may use the following descriptors:
DEFINITIONS (may be copied and pasted into a narrative as necessary)
Conifer: Evergreen trees with needles and that bear cones seasonally.
Deciduous: Trees that lose their leaves in the fall.
Slash: Treetops, limbs, and woody debris remaining after storm damage or timber has been harvested.
Understory: plant life growing beneath the forest canopy without penetrating it, but above the forest floor (typically shrubs and brush).
Shrub: A shrub is a deciduous or evergreen woody plant that is smaller than a tree and has multiple stems. Shorter than a tree, with a height ranging from a few inches to up to 20 feet.
Brush: A highly combustible, dense, tangled growth of small trees, shrubs, and other vegetation.
