2000 ILBA LOG BUILDING STANDARDS

The International Log Builders Association has developed Standards of Practice for the construction of log homes, released in 2000. I contributed to an early version of these standards.

You should not inspect for compliance with these standards unless you know that the home was built to them. Otherwise, these standards should be considered as Best Practice. Understanding these standards will lead to development of a greater understanding of the forces that affect log homes, which in turn will help you know:

  • What to look for;
  • Where to look for it;
  • How to recognize it;

and my Library will tell you...

  • What to say about it.
