Exterior Unit Inspection

  • Inspect outdoor condensing unit for physical damage, debris, and proper clearances;

  • Check cabinet for rust, corrosion, and security of panels/fasteners;

  • Confirm outdoor unit is level and secure.

  • Inspect electrical disconnect for proper mounting;

      • The disconnect must be located within sight and readily accessible from the heat pump or outdoor condensing unit.

  • Proper labeling: manufacturer, model number, serial number, rated voltage, rated amperes or rated watts, phase, and frequency

Refrigerant and Piping

  • Look for visible signs of refrigerant leaks or damage.

  • Inspect refrigerant lines for correct insulation and mounting.

  • Check refrigerant line connections for signs of oil or corrosion.

Electrical Systems

  • Inspect all electrical connections and wiring for signs of overheating, arcing, or loose wires.

  • Confirm correct voltage at the outdoor unit.

Interior Unit and Ductwork

  • Inspect indoor coil, blower assembly, and casing for dirt, ice, or visible damage.

  • Inspect air filters for excessive dust or blockage.

  • Inspect condensate drain pan and line for leaks or blockage

Operational Testing

  • Start system and verify adequate response in both heating and cooling modes.

  • Observe startup sequence for abnormal sounds, vibrations, or delays.

  • Check for consistent air temperature and verify adequate airflow.
